In the morning of October 7, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Tran Hong Ha, Chairman of People’s Committee of Hanoi, Nguyen Duc Chung and leaders of a number of ministries and sectors officially launched construction of Yen Xa wastewater treatment plant located in Thinh Liet commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi.
The Yen Xa wastewater treatment plant has its capacity of 270,000 cubic meters per day. The project is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) with its total investment cost of more than 61.6 million Yen (13.6 billion VND), of which the ODA loan from JICA accounts for 84.14%.
The wastewater treatment plant is expected to revive Hanoi’s rivers such as: To Lich, Lu, Set and a part of Nhue with total length of over 52 km spreading over many districts, including: Ba Dinh, Cau Giay, Thanh Xuan, Dong Da, Hoang Mai, Ha Dong and Thanh Tri. It covers an area of about 4,874 hectares with the population of about 900,000 people by 2020.
Almost collection drainage system will be constructed by pipe jacking technology. This method can prevent the complicated operation of pumping stations and require only small areaof application.
Especially, the construction will be carried out below shadow of trees and rivers, preventing impacts on existing traffic system and on environment and local residential areas.
